Pedestrian dies from injuries sustained in Mayo road collision

Gardaí in Mayo are continuing their investigation into a collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Lord Edward Street, Ballina,which occurred on Tuesday.

A male pedestrian aged 33 years, who sustained serious injuries in the incident, was pronounced deceased in Mayo University Hospital yesterday evening.

The local Coroner has been informed, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.

Additionally, a female child who was also injured has been discharged from hospital.

Following the completion of examinations by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, the road, previously closed, has been reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Those with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are urged to provide it to Gardaí.
