Planning approved for west Mayo water activities facility

APPROVAL has been issued by An Bord Pleanála for a new facilities centre for water-based activities at Keel, Achill, local Councillor Paul McNamara has confirmed.

The centre will include changing facilities, showers and secured storage.

On his social media, Councillor McNamara commented: “This is something we have worked extremely hard to achieve. The facilities will be developed under the Fáilte Ireland capital investment programme Platforms for Growth.

“Achill will receive €1.2 million in funding for the upcoming development, which will undoubtedly provide a huge boost to Achill.”

Mayo County Council will be appointing an engineer and design team in the upcoming weeks to begin the development process of these facilities, he added.
