Mayo ace Durcan in fitness battle after injury setback

Mayo senior team captain Patrick Durcan is in a battle to be fit for his side's remaining Allianz National League campaign.

He is sidelined with a thigh injury he sustained in training and missed last weekend's clash against Kerry in Tralee.

The Castlebar Mitchels ace, who was a key figure in the side's victories against Galway and Dublin in the opening two rounds, is also expected to be ruled out of tomorrow's meeting with Tyrone at Omagh while the home fixture against Roscommon on March 2 may also come too soon for him.

Mayo's remaining league games next month are against Derry in Castlebar on March 17 and Monaghan in Clones on March 24.

Kevin McStay's charges open their Connacht SFC campaign against New York at Gaelic Park on April 7.
