Padraic O'Cuinn

Mayo celebration of cycling culture

PADRAIC Quinn, former international cyclist, Velotec and TG4 commentator, and David Brennan, Castle Books, will discuss their favourite cycling books and more, in the welcoming setting of the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, on Friday, March 8, at 6 p.m.

The competitive sport of cycling inspires those with a love of adventure. It is a spectacle of strategy and human endurance.

The colourful and festival atmosphere that accompanies races provides many entertaining anecdotes about the most memorable sport stars and fans. The landscape of iconic races provide the perfect opportunity to discuss literature, architecture, history, food and more.

Enjoy hearing two fluent Irish speakers speak about the books and sport they love.

Fáilte roimh chách. All welcome. Entry is free but advanced booking is advised on the Linenhall website (link below). The event is supported by Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia.

Pléifidh Padraic O’Cuinn, Láithreoir Velotec agus TG4 agus iar-rothaí idirnáisiúnta, agus Dáithí Ó Braonain, Siopa Leabhar Caisleán an Bharraigh, ar na leabhair rothaíochta is fearr leo agus go leor eile i suíomh fáiltiúil Ionad Ealaíon Halla an Línéadaigh, Caisleán an Bharraigh, Dé hAoine, 8 Márta, ag 6 p.m.

Spreagann spórt iomaíoch na rothaíochta iad siúd a bhfuil grá acu san eachtra. Tá sé ina radharc ar straitéis agus seasmhachta daonna. Soláthraíonn an t-atmaisféar ildaite agus féile a ghabhann leis na rásaí go leor scéalta siamsúla faoi na réaltaí spóirt is mó i gcuimhne agus a lucht leanúna. Tugann tírdhreach na rásaí íocónacha deis iontach chun litríocht, ailtireacht, stair, bia agus go leor eile a phlé.

Bain taitneamh as beirt chainteoirí líofa Gaeilge a chloisteáil ag labhairt faoi na leabhair agus an spórt is breá leo.

Fáilte roimh chách. Saor chéad isteach ach moltar áirithint a dhéanamh roimh ré: https://www.thelinenhall.com/whats-on/events.
