Masts are up but phone coverage around Mayo county town not improved

A NUMBER of masts have been erected in the Castlebar area, yet people's phone coverage hasn't improved.

A lot of people are frustrated, Councillor Cyril Burke told a municipal district meeting.

Planning was granted for the masts but he didn't know who was putting up the dishes to facilitate the different mobile operators.

However, no one's phone coverage has improved and the masts are in place for over a year now in some instances, he commented.

“A lot of people are frustrated,” he stated.

Mayo County Council's broadband officer has written to the providers about the matter.
