Four generations to lead east Mayo parade

THIS year's Saint Patrick's Day parade in Kiltimagh will be a very special event for one local family.

Four generations of the McNicholas family will lead Sunday's parade as grand marshals.

Kiltimagh centenarian Rosaleen McNicholas will be joined by her son Anthony McNicholas, her granddaughter Donna Corless and great-granddaughter Shannon Corless.

The grand marshals reflect the theme of this year's parade - Through the Generations.

Sunday's parade starts at 1 p.m.

The Saint Patrick's celebrations in Kiltimagh kick-off today when the Saint Louis Community School transition years present the first of their Bash Boom Bang percussion shows.

The GAA club are hosting a bi-lingual table quiz on Thursday, with a variety concert in the town hall on Friday followed by a fireworks display. A funfair is running over the weekend too, with lots of entertainment in local pubs and hotels.
