Tributes to popular Mayo man Eoin Gilmartin on his passing

Tributes are being paid to Eoin Gilmartin, Mountgordan, Castlebar, whose death has taken place.

A member of a popular and respected local family, news of his passing, following a short illness, has evoked an immense sense of loss in the county town.

Many tributes are being paid to him on social media.

One stated: "His knowledge always surprised me on some of the most diverse of subjects and he never shied away when his help was needed."

Another said: "Eoin was a sound lad, good fun and great company."

Predeceased by his mother Máire, he was much loved son of Joe, father to Naoise and brother of Emer, Martin, Ivor, Máire and Brendan.

Eoin is also deeply regretted by his extended family and dear friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

His remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to his family home.

Removal takes place on Monday at 10.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Eoin will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
