Young Mayo man is the new radio ‘voice of Galway’

A young Mayo journalist/broadcaster has landed one of the most high profile jobs in Irish commercial radio.

On April 15, John Morley will officially take over from Keith Finnegan as the new presenter of Galway Talks on Galway Bay FM.

Keith, a founder and later director of Galway Bay FM, has retired after 34 years of broadcasting.

Into his chair as presenter steps 26-year-old John, a native of the Claremorris area and a past pupil of St. Colman’s College.

In 2019, he qualified from DCU with a BA in Journalism.

Prior to joining the Galway station as a producer/researcher/journalist, John spent three and half years as a news/sports journalist with Midwest Radio.

He is no stranger to the limelight having starred in a number of stage shows, including Castlebar Musical and Dramatic Society’s recent performances of ‘Legally Blonde:The Musical’.

In a social media post, John says he’s “absolutely delighted” by his new radio appointment.

“I can’t wait to become the voice of Galway from April 15”, he continues.

“Huge shoes to fill in the form of Keith Finnegan”.

'Galway Talks' airs every weekday morning from 9 a.m.
