Mayo GAA and New York clash may leave fans empty-handed

The Connacht GAA Senior Football Championship quarter-final between Mayo and New York is totally sold-out according to the US clubs Instagram account.

Despite assurances from Connacht GAA's CEO that tickets would be available on match day, New York GAA's Instagram announcement on Easter Sunday revealed a complete sell-out due to overwhelming demand.

The sudden turn of events has left supporters scrambling for alternatives, with many travelling without securing tickets online.

This miscommunication highlights the challenges of coordinating large-scale sporting events, particularly with huge numbers of Mayo GAA supporters making the transatlantic trip.

For those left without tickets, options are limited. Streaming the match online via GAAGO or seeking out public screenings may offer some consolation but John Prenty assured that "tickets will be available on the day."

The game throws-in at 8 p.m. (Irish Time) on Sunday, April 7.
