Roscommon venue for Mayo v Galway showdown in Connacht LGFA senior final
The Connacht LGFA senior final showdown between Mayo and Galway will be played on May 12 in St. Brigid's GAA Club, Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon.
Mayo go into the contest as defending champions, having dethroned Galway last year to take their first Connacht crown since 2016.
They went on to beat Galway again in the All-Ireland quarterfinal, and the Green and Red have also had a better 2024 so far, securing Division One survival with three wins and a draw from seven games while Galway suffered relegation to Division Two after their campaign came down to what was essentially a playoff against Waterford on the final day.
It was a disappointing campaign overall for the Tribeswomen as they suffered six defeats and secured just one victory in the league.
However, their scoring difference of -7 points to the fact that they were quite competitive all through, not least against Mayo in round two.
In that game, played at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe, just one point separated the teams at the end of the contest, which Mayo won by 2-5 to 0-10.
Both teams will have plenty of time to prepare for the Connacht final and it would come as little surprise to see another close encounter play out.
The TG4 Connacht LGFA Senior Championship final will throw in at 2 p.m. on May 12, with the intermediate final between Leitrim and Roscommon to follow at 4 p.m.
