Two men arrested by gardaí on patrol after series of south Mayo break-ins

Two men have been arrested by gardaí on patrol following a series of break-ins in south Mayo.

The incidents took place in the early hours of last Thursday in Ballinrobe town centre.

The properties targeted by the duo were the SuperValu supermarket premises at New Street, the municipal district offices and health care centre on Kilmaine Road and the Emo Filling Station at Bowgate Street.

The suspects were spotted by local gardaí on patrol following their entry to the Bowgate Street outlet.

They were arrested at the scene and a quantity of cigarettes and alcohol, understood to be taken during the supermarket burglary, were subsequently found.

One of the suspects has been charged and is due to appear at a special sitting of Castlebar District Court this evening (Saturday).

A file is being prepared for the DPP in respect of the second man.
