Late Gerard Lynskey was respected figure in Mayo drama circles

THE death has occurred of Gerard Lynskey, Gortskehy, Hollymount, Claremorris, who was a well-known figure in drama circles.

He passed peacefully, after a short illness, at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Margaret Lynskey, Gerard will be sadly missed by his loving family, his devoted wife Eileen, daughters Marguerite (Dalton), Claremorris, Caitriona (Corcoran), Kilconly, sons Martin and Brian, Gortskehy, sons-in-law Michael and David, daughters-in-law Marita and Augusta, grandchildren Alannah, Molly, Emily, Lucy, Charlie, Patrick, Harry, Neala and Louis, his sisters Maureen Sheridan (Kilmessan), Bernadette Larkin (Naas), Phil Lennon (Carlow), Nuala O'Neill (Fermoy), nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and his large circle of friends, to whom sympathy is extended on their great loss.

Gerard's deep involvement with drama over the years is being remembered, with one tribute on rip.ie recalling 'fond memories spending time in Garrymore Hall many years ago during drama rehearsals'.

On one of those occasions Ger played ‘The Bird’ in an unforgettable performance of The Field.

An award-winning director and producer, he was also an accomplished actor and was always good company on the various travels with productions.

He was a true gentleman and great company to be with and his passing is deeply mourned by all who knew him.

Gerard's remains will repose at St. Colman's Funeral Home, Lower James Street, Claremorris (F12R3W8), this evening (Tuesday) from 5 to 7 p.m.

Removal from his residence on Wednesday morning to arrive for funeral Mass at 12 noon in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Roundfort (F12YV70), with burial afterwards in Roundfort Cemetery.
