Mayo mourns passing of a 'beautiful, kind lady' Annemarie Byrne-Cunningham

The death has taken place of Annemarie Byrne-Cunningham, Baloor, Breaffy, Castlebar, and late of Carrowkeel, Bohola.

A member of the staff of the Western Care Association, she died peacefully yesterday in the loving care of the staff of Mayo Hospice, surrounded by her adoring family.

She is deeply missed by her heartbroken husband Jarlath, sons James, Mark and Shane, mother Maureen Byrne, sister Imelda Byrne-Ivers, brothers Thomas, Paul, Philip and John, mother-in-law Mary Cunningham, sister-in-law Claire (Moran), brothers-in-law John, Oliver and Brendan, uncles Paddy, Jimmie and Martin, aunts Nora, Vera and Breda, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many great friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Annemarie was predeceased by her dad Tommy and her father-in-law John Cunningham.

Many warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media where she was described as 'a beautiful, kind lady'.

One tribute stated: "Annemarie was a truly inspirational individual and was so gifted in her work.

"She was also a kind, generous, and strong individual that really inspired many she worked with.

"She certainly made a lasting impression on me and I have often thought of her fondly over the years.

"I am so deeply saddened to hear of her passing, and I wish her family strength at this time."

In a post on their social media platforms, Castlebar Celtic said the members of the club are heartbroken by the news.

"Annemarie was a familiar face on the sideline wherever her boys were playing and was proud of all their achievements on and off the pitch. We will miss her at Celtic Park."

Councillor Brendan Mulroy has joined in extended sympathy to the bereaved.

Annemarie will repose at her home in Baloor, Breaffy (F23 KA06) on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. (via Breaffy Road).

Removal from her home on Saturday at 12.15 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 1.30pm

Annemarie will be laid to rest afterwards in Breaffy Cemetery (via Main Street and Breaffy Road, Castlebar).
