Death of 'lovely lady' Christina Canning is deeply regretted in Mayo county town

The death of Christina Canning (née Philbin), Churchview Villas, Castlebar, and formerly of Conloon, Castlebar, has evoked a sense of great loss in the community.

A member of an old and respected local family, she was held in high regard by everybody who knew her.

Many tributes have been paid to Christina on social media where she was described as 'a lovely lady'.

She is deeply regretted by her loving family: Helena Cusack, Tom, Jimmy, Martin, Nicky and their dad Seamus, brother Paddy Philbin (Conloon), sisters Mary (UK), Bridie Cloherty (Crimlin) and Margaret Smith (Bray), grandchildren Laura, Eoin, Jodie, Katie, Ellie, Cillian, Cathal, Niamh, Evan, Sarah, Leah, James Patrick and Kayla, son-in-law Shay, daughters-in-law Paula, Claire, Lisa and Sinead, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Ellie, sister Nancy Costello and her niece Helen Connor.

Christina's remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5.30 until 7 p.m., followed by removal to her residence.

Removal from her home takes place on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to The Church of The Holy Rosary for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m..

Committal Service takes place at Shannon Crematorium at 3 p.m.
