Green light for north Mayo coastal walking trail

PLANS for a new walking trail along north Mayo's Ceide coast have been given the green light.

The 15-kilometre trail will link the Céide Fields with Downpatrick Head.

The Ceide Coast Community group have expressed their delight that the walking trail has been granted planning permission.

In a social media post, they said: 'Our group are extremely proud to have initiated and worked on this project for the past six years and are now looking forward to that vision becoming reality.

'A special word of thanks to all the landowners along the route who have worked with us on this and shared our vision for the betterment of the area.'

They also expressed thanks to the local councillors, council staff and other agencies who works on the project which will provide significant benefits to Ballycastle, north Mayo and the wider region.
