Mayo's Clann Machua to take Stolen Child to the national stage

The play Stolen Child, which has been staged by Clann Machua Drama Group, has qualified for the All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals, which will be held in Mountmellick, Co. Laois, later this month.

The play had a very successful run in Kiltimagh Town Hall Theatre during February, and will be performed again tonight (Thursday) for one night only ahead of the performance at the national finals on Friday, April 26.

The two-act play is directed by Seamus Corry and written by Yvonne Quinn and Bairbre Ni Chaoimh. It is a humorous and moving piece of work which centres around one woman’s search for her birth mother.

The director has put together a wonderful blend of experience and youth for this award-winning play, which is guaranteed to make you laugh and make you cry – and stay long in your memory after you leave the theatre.

The cast includes Rebecca Farrington as Angela, a young businesswoman who starts the search for her birth mother. She is helped by a colourful private detective played by Ethan Jordan, who is making his debut with Clann Machua.

Their search for Angela's mother Peggy, played by Finola Mellett, takes you through a turbulent part of Ireland in the 1940s, and the play also explores the relationship between Angela and Chris, a local doctor.

The play will be staged in Kiltimagh Town Hall Theatre at 8 p.m. this evening (Thursday, April 18).
