Independent election candidate - Joe Faughnan

New Independent candidate aims to fight for the people of north Mayo

Joe Faughnan, a native of Knockmore, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming local elections in the Ballina Electoral Area.

Faughnan, an independent candidate, pledges to address pressing issues affecting north Mayo communities, including sports infrastructure, youth emigration, and housing shortages.

Drawing on his lifelong involvement in sports as a coach with Conn Rangers, Faughnan says he knows "the importance of supporting local clubs and organisations and securing investment in sports facilities for the area's well-being."

Concerned about the exodus of young talent from the county, Faughnan is determined to provide opportunities for young people to thrive locally.

He aims to tackle the chronic housing shortage head-on, prioritising the expansion of the housing stock to enable locals to establish homes and foster thriving communities.

Faughnan expresses readiness to collaborate with stakeholders across the political spectrum to improve constituents' lives, citing the successful Independent tenure of fellow Knockmore resident and recently retired councillor Seamus Weir as an inspiration.
