Legislate to stop accident scenes being videoed - Mayo councillor

LEGISLATION is needed to prevent people recording videos of accident scenes and sharing the footage online.

The 'irresponsible' actions of some people was raised at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council by Independent Councillor Christy Hyland.

It has happened again, he said, where people start videoing a scene and put it out on social media, and families may not even be aware of an accident having taken place.

Ambulance and fire service personnel and also medics were doing their jobs at scenes and he asked his colleagues to get the government parties to bring in legislation to prevent videos being taken of these people carrying out their day's work.
