'Euro' odds for Mayo candidates revealed as 'Ming' is rated favourite

Outgoing Independent MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan is the favourite in the race for the five European Parliament seats in the Midlands North West constituency on June 7.

According to Boyle Sports, he heads the field at odds of 1/20.

The bookmakers place Sinn Féin MEP Chris McManus in second place on 1/3 with Fianna Fáil Barry Cowen on 1/2 to secure a seat at his first attempt.

Next placed is the second Sinn Féin candidate Michelle Gildernew on 4/7 with Fine Gael newcomer Nina Carberry rated 5/6.

The sixth placed contender is Aontú leader, Deputy Peader Toibin, on 5/4, ahead of Ciaran Mullooly (Independent Ireland) on 11/8 and John Waters (Independent) on 2/1.

Mayo Fianna Fáil Sanator Lisa Chambers is rated at having a 7/2 change of winning a seat with outgoing Fine Gael MEP, Mayo's Maria Walsh, considering as having 5/1 chance of being re-elected.
