Call for x-ray facilities in south Mayo primary care centres

A SOUTH Mayo councillor wants to see x-ray facilities rolled out at primary care centres in the region.

A new facility has opened at nearby Tuam Primary Care Centre and Councillor Patsy O'Brien wants to see similar initiatives at the health centres in Ballinrobe and Claremorris.

The long-awaited Tuam facility has opened in recent days.

Commenting on his social media, Councillor O'Brien stated: “I welcome the new x-ray facility now operating at Tuam Primary Care Centre.

“It's a wonderful facility to have for the people of south Mayo. It can be used by appointment through your local GP.

“Having this facility will take the pressure off the emergency departments of Castlebar and Galway hospitals respectively.

“I am calling that the same facilities be extended to Ballinrobe and Claremorris primary care centres as well.”
