Leonard Barry launching new solo album in Matt Molloy's

A VERY special evening is coming up at Matt Molloy's Yard Bar in Westport, on Thursday, April 25, when Leonard Barry launches his new solo album.

Uileann piper Leonard is being joined by Michael McGoldrick, Andy Morrow and Seamie O'Dowd on an Irish tour celebrating the launch of his new release, Littoral, which features some of the leading light's of traditional music, including Kevin Burke, Andy Morrow, Seamie O'Dowd and Shane McGowan.

The album was produced by Michael McGoldrick, who also features on the recording.

Littoral is Leonard’s third solo album and his first in 10 years and it has been receiving high praise.

“Leonard Barry's new recording, Littoral, shows remarkable depth and good taste. It's also a nice snapshot of the current trad scene in Sligo where Barry currently resides.” (Tim O'Brien)

“My visits to the West of Ireland over recent years have brought me into regular contact with Leonard since he moved to Sligo in 2015. We have spent many hours together enjoying each other’s music and I’m thrilled at the release of this solo CD. I have been aware of it since its inception so it’s a delight to finally hear it in its entirety.

"He has assembled a great team of players to accompany him on the various tracks and his decision to engage fellow piper, flautist and multi instrumentalist, Michael McGoldrick, as his producer was an inspired choice. Leonard and Michael’s combination of unusual accompaniments, interesting tunes and warm, rich sounds have resulted in a superior, recording, comfortable and self confident, while expressing the joys of both piping and traditional music.” (Kevin Burke)
