Mayo wellbeing facilitators hosting Great Reconnect retreat at Killary Lodge

TWO of Mayo’s leading wellbeing facilitators, Joan Flannelly of Heart Space Mindfulness and Claire Campbell of The Life and Soul Coach, are getting together to host a weekend of deep rest and wellbeing this May bank holiday weekend at Killary Lodge.

From mindfulness practices and meditation sessions to shamanic ceremonies, ancestral healing, and soul stirring sound healing sessions, this weekend promises to be a truly enriching experience.

The theme of the retreat is connection in all its forms - to yourself, to others and to the world we live in.

We live in an ever more disconnected world and the increasing use of technology can leave us feeling cut off and adrift. Artificial blue waves from smart phone’s interferes with the body’s natural circadian rhythms and leaves so many of us feeling tired and anxious.

There will be an option to truly disconnect during the weekend by surrendering your devices.

This is a wonderful opportunity to step out of clock time, with its endless To Do Lists, and embrace nature’s natural rhythms and your To Be List. There will also be space to experience silence - one of the most transformative retreat experiences.

“Silence is something people coming on retreat can be nervous about. We imagine it would be difficult to be silent when we’re in community but it feel very natural.

“In my experience, it is something everyone loves and leaves a retreat craving more of. The silence is a companionable, easy experience,” said Joan Flannelly.

Joan is a Castlebar native and has been teaching meditation since 2017. She is long-term facilitator with Sr. Stan Kennedy’s Dublin-based meditation centre, The Sanctuary.

There will be plenty of time spent in nature and enjoying all the gifts of Killary Fjord. Killary Lodge has its own sauna and private beach for wild swimming and there are lovely hikes in the area.

Claire Campbell, Newport resident, life coach and expert Shamanic practitioner, will create a sacred space with Celtic ceremonies to embrace our connection to the Earth and to our deepest selves. She will open the retreat with a welcoming hawthorn ceremony, guide ancestral healing and close the retreat with a stirring fire ceremony to celebrate Belthane, the beginning of summer in the Celtic calendar.

An Irish native, Claire moved back from New York to the shores of Clew Bay just before the Covid pandemic broke and is deeply grateful to live in an area of such peace and natural beauty. She has a strong belief in our connection to place and will draw on this throughout the weekend.

The retreat is open to everyone, and no meditation experience is necessary. There are a few spaces still available. Bookings can be made with Claire by emailing claire@lifeandsoulcoach.com or call (087) 6043909.
