Mayo senator wants Fianna Fáil to cut ties with greens

Mayo Fianna Fáil Senator Lisa Chambers has called on her party to cut its coalition ties with the Green Party.

In an interview with the Irish Independent, she it should do so "if the government is serious about stemming the economic imbalance between Dublin and the west of Ireland."

The European election candidate for Midlands-North-West said Green Party leader Eamon Ryan and the “climate-change agenda” was placing regions such as the west and north-west in "a green straitjacket”.

Senator Chambers accused Minister Ryan of thwarting the development of floating offshore windfarms along the Atlantic seaboard – which industry experts say has the best wind resources in Europe and the second best in the world.
