Radiographer cover shortage at Mayo University Hospital queried

"It has come to my attention that there is a shortage of radiographers to cover absences within Mayo University hospital, posing significant challenges in providing adequate clinical care."

This is according to local independent election candidate, Harry Barrett.

Barrett elaborated: "This shortage appears to be impacting the hospital's ability to cover absences for various types of leave, increasing the risk of disrupting essential services and patient care.

"As a result, patients may experience delays, in some cases, in receiving timely diagnoses and treatments, which is unacceptable.

"In light of these concerns, I urge Mayo University Hospital to provide a transparent statement addressing the radiographer cover shortage and outlining their plans to address this critical issue.

"It is imperative that the hospital takes immediate action to ensure that patients receive the high-quality care they deserve without any unnecessary delays or disruptions due to staff cover issues.

"People's health and well-being must remain our top priority, and I am calling on the HSE and hospital management, to address this concern."
