Mayo cheerleader Taylor Flynn takes centre stage in ground breaking documentary

The world of cheerleading is set to take centre stage at Mayo Movie World like never before with the screening of ground-breaking documentary Eat/Sleep/Cheer/ Repeat.

The unique coming-of-age sport documentary about Irish cheerleaders aims to shatter stereotypes and showcase the athleticism, determination, and passion of the sport’s young athletes.

Among the stars of this cinematic journey is Taylor Flynn, a 20-year-old cheerleader hailing from Parke, Castlebar, whose remarkable journey serves as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring young female athletes.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tanya Doyle and featuring a stirring musical score by Stephen Rennicks and Hugh Drumm, Eat/Sleep/Cheer/Repeat intimately explores the lives of the young athletes of Team Ireland over the course of four years.

It melds a teenage coming of age drama with Netflix’s Formula 1 hit series Drive to Survive.

The film shines a spotlight on those who dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to a sport often overlooked and underestimated in this country.

At the core of the film is Taylor Flynn, a spirited and sharp witted athlete whose journey from Parke to the world stage embodies the resilience, ambition and sheer determination of young cheerleaders waving the pom-poms for Team Ireland.

Juggling her responsibilities as a flyer on the Galway-based Alliance team with a demanding job in Glasgow, Scotland, Taylor's story is one of many that are highlighted.

Having competed at the highest level representing Ireland at the Cheerleading World 2022 competitions in Orlando, Taylor's dreams extend far beyond the mat.

With aspirations of one day competing in the Olympics, she remains confident in her pursuit of excellence, fuelled by the camaraderie and support of her teammates.

"It's a sport that draws you back in," Taylor remarks. "The opportunities, like competing in Florida, is really what sucks you back in."

For Taylor, cheerleading is more than just a sport - it's a calling, a passion that ignites her soul and pushes her to new heights.

With her fellow athletes, she embodies the spirit of perseverance, resilience and the relentless pursuit of greatness.

As Eat/Sleep/Cheer/ Repeat prepares to make its big screen debut in Castlebar on Saturday, May 18, audiences around the world will bear witness to Taylor and her teammates’ remarkable journey that has been marked by triumphs, setbacks, and determination.
