Speeding traffic an issue in residential area of Mayo county town

ISSUES of speeding traffic on the road from Aurivo to Springfield in Castlebar and out onto the N5 need to be addressed.

Residents concerns were raised at a municipal district meeting by Councillor Michael Kilcoyne.

They are looking for traffic calming, with cars speeding up and down the route, and also want the exit onto the N5 examined.

There are bollards in place but they don't seem to have much impact, with traffic 'flying', said Councillor Kilcoyne.

The speed limit is 50kph and maybe you could reduce it, but then it needed to be enforced.

He requested a report.
