Plan needed for traffic black spot in Mayo county town

A PLAN is needed to tackle traffic issues at Gallows Hill in Castlebar.

Councillor Donna Sheridan has long been advocating for action at the black spot.

And with further housing developments in the general area coming on stream, solutions need to be looked at, she has urged management in the municipal district.

Previously, traffic lights were thought of as being a possible solution but recent road works saw traffic backed to the roundabout where lights were in place.

The councillor requested a plan for the location, saying the situation is only going to get worse.
