37-unit housing development proposed in north Mayo town

PLANS for a 37-unit housing development in Crossmolina are before Mayo County Council for approval.

The development site is at Mullenmore North and Knockalegan, Crossmolina, and the developers are John and Carina Craven.

It is proposed to construct 10 two-bed semi-detached bungalows, nine three-bed detached bungalows, eight four-bed detached two-storey dwellings and 10 four-bed semi-detached two-storey homes.

A design statement submitted to the council sets out how the project is designed to provide a range of house options, close to Crossmolina town, on a site located within the 50kph speed limited. With five house types, there's an option to all suit all needs.

The lands are currently zoned 'opportunity sites'. It is currently a green field site.

The report states that it is a prime location for homes.

At present, Crossmolina's housing demand outweighs supply, as is the case in most towns, and further units are in high demand.

The site is within walking distance of all amenities and has pedestrian access to the town centre with footpaths on both sides of the road, the report sets out.
