Who is running in the Mayo local elections and where

All you need to know about the bid for the 30 Mayo County Council seats with 73 candidates in the field

Mayo County Council has confirmed the full list of candidates running in the local elections on June 7 in the six electoral areas of Belmullet, Ballina, Castlebar, Claremorris, Swinford and Westport.

The biggest number of candidates - 19 - are bidding to secure a seat in the seven-seat Castlebar Municipal District while 14 candidates have declared in the Ballina Electoral area.

All but two of the outgoing 30 councillors are in the field, the two exceptions being Ballyhaunis FG Councillor John Cribbin and Knockmore Independent Councillor Seamus Weir.

There are a total of 73 candidates in the field.
