Evlana Ensemble bring their Perfect Offering tour to Mayo
Dublin-based group Evlana Ensemble, founded in 2015 by composer Siobhán Cleary, places contemporary music at the heart of its programming and provides an opportunity for Ireland’s most accomplished performers and composers to produce and perform their work.
Join Evlana Ensemble on a compelling musical journey as they embark on a national tour in June, including The Linenhall in Castlebar on Thursday, June 6, (8 p.m.).
Supported by an Arts Council of Ireland Touring and Dissemination of Work Award, Evlana will be performing a programme of works by Schoenberg (arr. Webern), Cassandra Miller, Jessie Montgomery, Jane O'Leary, and the world premiere of a new commission by Seán Doherty.
Evlana’s inaugural concert took place at the University Church Dublin in 2015 with support from
the Arts Council. This concert was later broadcast on Lyric FM. It featured several Irish
premieres, including 'Changing Light' (Kaija Saariaho), 'Zipangu' (Claude Vivier) and 'Taromirs Tid'
(Karin Rehnqvist), plus the world premiere of Siobhán Cleary’s 'Her Kind' for soprano, piccolo and
string orchestra.
Evlana prioritises music of our time but also engages with repertoire of previous centuries. Commissioning new works is integral to the objectives of Evlana as well as providing opportunities for repeat performances.
The group features Sylvia O’Brien (soprano), Keith Pascoe (violin), Lynda O'Connor (violin), Nathan Sherman (viola), Yseult Cooper Stockdale (cello), Bill Dowdall (flute), Paul Roe (clarinet) and Isabelle O’Connell (piano).
Tickets for the tour, which also includes shows in Sligo, Kilkenny and Dublin, are on sale from evlana.com.
