McHale keeps faith with Mayo team for daunting Dublin test

Mayo's All-Ireland Senior Championship campaign gets underway on Sunday as they travel to face defending champions Dublin in Parnell Park.

The hosts will start as favourites not just to beat Mayo, but to land the Brendan Martin Cup once again this year.

Mayo, meanwhile, have had a mixed year, preserved Division 1 status cosily enough but lost out to Galway in the Connacht final, relinquishing the provincial crown they won last year.

Manager Liam McHale has named an unchanged team from that Galway game a month ago as the Green and Red look forward to a group campaign that also features Kildare.

The Mayo team is as follows: L. Brennan; S. Lally, N. O’Malley, K. Sullivan; É. Ronayne, C. Durkan, D. Caldwell; A. Geraghty, E. Murray; F. McLaughlin, C. Needham, S. Cafferky; A. Staunton, M. Cannon, L. Cafferky.

Dublin issued a statement of intent with an impressive Leinster final victory over Meath. They make two changes to the starting line-up, with Aoife Kane and Grace Kós coming in for Jessica Tobin and Olwen Carey. Dublin line out as follows: A. Shiels; A. Kane, L. Caffrey, N. Donlon; S. Goldrick, M. Byrne, L. Magee; J. Dunne, G. Kós; C. O’Connor, C. Rowe, O. Nolan; N. Hetherton, H. Tyrrell, K. Sullivan.

There are ten games down for decision this weekend across the three grades of the TG4 All-Ireland Championships, and all four of the weekend’s senior games will be available live via TG4 linear television (including Dublin v Mayo at 2.55 p.m. on Sunday, June 9) and the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel.
