Civic reception for record-breaking Mayo motorcyclist
A TEENAGE motorcyclist from Westport who scooped a national title is to have his achievement celebrated with a council civic reception.
Brian O'Malley from Murrisk, who is 15 years old, recently became the Irish Moto 400 champion for 2024 - the youngest ever champion.
On course to his title win, Brian competed against adult motorcyclists, seasoned international competitors, with Councillor Brendan Mulroy, who proposed he be accorded a civic reception, congratulating him on 'a massive achievement'.
At a municipal district meeting yesterday, Councillor Mulroy proposed the reception be held in Brian's native Murrisk.
Brian is really making waves in the sport and since his win it has been announced that he will join the R7 charge, teaming up with Rev2Race Yamaha for the 2025 Pirelli National Sportbike Championship.
