Mayo footballer on Ireland team for Under 19 European qualifiers

FORMER Kiltimagh Knock United player Thomas Morley has been named in the Ireland men’s Under 19 squad for three Under 19 European championship qualifiers this week.

Head coach Tom Mohan will lead a squad of 20 players to Moldova where they face hosts Moldova on Wednesday afternoon before taking on Azerbaijan on Saturday morning. The final qualifier is against Iceland on Tuesday, November 19.

Teams finishing in the top two of the group will progress to next spring’s elite round of qualifiers with an opportunity to reach the finals in Romania.

Sligo Rovers midfielder Morley was also part of the Irish squad for a three-match series last month.

Said Mohan: “These are three massive games, which we as a group of staff and players have put a lot of work and preparations into and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
