Mayo native joins Athlone Town after Finn Harps departure
Mayo’s Noe Baba has made a move within the League of Ireland First Division, departing Finn Harps to join Athlone Town.
The 28-year-old, who hails from Castlebar and began his footballing journey with Castlebar Celtic, announced the transfer on social media, expressing gratitude for his time in Ballybofey.
Baba joined Finn Harps in early 2023, initially playing as a midfielder before transitioning to central defence.
Over two strong seasons with the Harps, he made 62 appearances and scored twice. His performances earned him a return to the squad for the 2024 campaign before deciding to move on.
Athlone Town, led by manager Dario Castelo, secured a fourth-place finish in the First Division last season, finishing two places and eight points above Finn Harps. Baba becomes the latest addition to Castelo’s side as they aim to build on last year’s success.
In his farewell message, Baba paid tribute to Finn Harps, saying:
“To all the staff, players and fans of Finn Harps, thank you for the past two seasons and all the best for the future.”
