Dogs a nuisance on Mayo beach
DOGS are causing a nuisance at Carrowniskey beach in west Mayo.
Complaints have been received by local Councillor Chris Maxwell about owners letting their pets run loose.
Some people are afraid when they bound up to them, never mind the matter of dog poo, he told a municipal meeting.
It's becoming an issue in what is a big tourist spot, as well as being popular with locals, and he has requested some signage to try and counteract the problem.
Dogs also pose an issue for sheep in the area, Councillor Johnny O'Malley highlighted. They shouldn't be on the loose, on a beach or anywhere, he said.
Members were concerned about dogs unleashed or roaming at lambing season and appealed to owners to keep pets under control.
