New water supply flowing on Cleragh/Lisduff scheme in east Mayo

A new water supply is set to flow at homes on the Cleragh/Lisduff water scheme in Kiltimagh.

From today, property owners can make a connection to bring a much welcomed supply into their homes.

It brings to an end a long saga to have homes and farms connected to the local Kiltimagh water scheme.

Councillor Adrian Forkan said as the installation of individual consumer meter boundary boxes has now been completed on the Cleragh community water connection, members of the scheme can now commence installing their service pipe between their property and the boundary box.

With residents relying on private wells that frequently dried, he said it was welcome news that they can now head into summer 2025 knowing their supply is protected and clean, fresh water will be flowing through their taps.

Councillor Forkan made delivering the scheme a priority following his election and paid tribute to Michael McDermott and the rural water services team in Mayo County Council for their hard work in bringing it to fruition. He also thanked Minister Dara Calleary for his support with funding.

The project involved the installation of over three kilometres of new water pipeline to bring a new supply to 34 households in the townlands of Cleragh, Attavally, Lisduff and Ballynamona.
