Sites identified for proposed coffee dock at Mayo lake
A location for a coffee dock at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar is under consideration.
The need for both a coffee dock and water station at the lake have again been highlighted by Councillor Ger Deere.
Last October he tabled a motion asking that casual trading by-laws be amended to allow a coffee van to operate at the popular lake amenity. There is, he said, big public demand for this facility to be put in place.
Similarly, a water station is needed, with events such as the weekly parkrun and people generally using the amenity.
Councillor Harry Barrett has also asked if it's possible to have a water font on the Mall for people to fill their bottles.
The members were told two sites have been identified at the lake, from the skate park towards the car park.
Plans are being drawn up and it's hoped to advertise them in the next week or two.
The council has also identified where it could put a water station in there too and will be having discussions with Uisce Éireann.
