Rotary Castlebar hosting stroke awareness initiative
ON Saturday, May 10, Rotary Castlebar is proud to host its annual stroke awareness campaign at SuperValu, Castlebar, bringing together the local community for a vital cause-prevention and early detection of stroke.
Why blood pressure matters:
High blood pressure is often called the 'silent killer' because it typically has no symptoms but can lead to devastating consequences, including stroke, heart disease, and other serious health problems. In Ireland, two out of three people over 50 have high blood pressure, yet half remain unaware of their condition.
Early detection through regular blood pressure checks is crucial, as many only discover a problem after suffering a stroke or heart attack.
Monitoring your blood pressure could save your life or the life of someone you love.
This event would not be possible without the selfless support of local healthcare professionals. Rotary Castlebar extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors of Mayo University Hospital for generously volunteering their time and expertise. They are equally grateful to SuperValu Castlebar for opening their doors to this initiative, and to Murray Ambulance Services for being on standby, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
