Heartbreak for Manulla in Connacht Shield final
Manulla suffered heartbreak in the Connacht Women's Shield final when defeated 4-1 by Arrow Harps in Salthill this afternoon.
Their Sligo opponents were three goals to the good at half-time, Orlaith Scanlon settling them in nicely with the opener after 15 minutes. The second goal followed very soon after when Orla Devaney tucked the ball into the Manulla net on 19 minutes.
The Mayo side trailed by three at the break after Scanlon again struck on 40 minutes.
Manulla, facing their fourth successive provincial loss, pulled a goal back from the penalty spot when Lauren McLellan converted with 25 minutes to go.
But try as they might, there was to be no way back and Scanlon completed her hat-trick in additional time for the winners.
