Rare opportunity to meet acclaimed creator of iconic Mayo sculpture

ARTIST Colm Brennan is delivering a talk on his work, followed by a walk to one of his sculptures, '98 Remembered, at Market Square, Castlebar, this week.

Mayo born Colm is one of Ireland's most prolific public sculptors and the talk will be of great interest to all who may be curious to know the stories behind the making of public sculptures across Mayo and Ireland.

The talk is taking place on Tuesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar.

The event is part of Mayo Arts Service’s Bealtaine Festival programme and they welcome all ages and communities to meet one of Mayo's most acclaimed artists.

Colm is a founder member of the Sculptors Society of Ireland, and is a director of CAST Bronze Foundry in Dublin.

Colm's sculpture, generally in bronze or combining bronze and stainless steel, travels twin paths of abstraction and naturalism. His work varies in size from large outdoor monumental sculpture to small studio pieces.
