Thirteen European Championship titles celebrated in Mayo

TEAM Ireland has returned from the ATA Taekwondo European Championships in Portugal with 49 medals and 13 European championship titles.

This is the first time that Ireland has been represented at the European Championships and the team of 22 competitors from Castlebar did the country proud.

The team consists of students from aged 5 to 50 plus and competed in forms, weapons, sparring and combat sparring.

The European Championships is a heavily contested competition, with over 500 competitors from the USA, South America, India and Europe. Taekwondo students worldwide travel to Europe to compete for the title of European champion.

Team Ireland train in Mango Martial Arts Academy in Castlebar. The full time Taekwondo Academy opened in March 2024 and has been successfully training students to the highest standards since then.

The academy is run by Mr. and Mrs. Bardwell, who are focused on developing Leaders for Life through Taekwondo.
