Gardaí condemn social media 'misinformation' about Kevin Flatley's death

Gardaí have said they are aware of content circulating online about the crash which killed a member of the force.
Garda Kevin Flatley died in the line of duty on Sunday afternoon in Dublin.
Garda Kevin Flatley was conducting a speed checkpoint at Lissenhall near Swords on Sunday afternoon when he was struck by a motorcyclist.
The death of the father of two young daughters has shocked An Garda Síochána, with his funeral due to take place this Friday.
Gardaí said they are aware of content online which claims to give an eye witness account of what happened.
They said this commentary is completely inaccurate and has no basis whatsoever in fact, describing it as misinformation.
They also said the misinformation risks diverting their resources and time from what is a complex and ongoing investigation.
Gardaí said they have made social media companies aware of the misinformation and it is up to the companies to comment on requests from An Garda Síochána to remove it.
