Mayo parish grieving death of 'absolute gentleman' James Jennings

The death of James (Jimmy) Jennings, Lisgowel, Breaffy, Castlebar, has evoked a great sense of sadness and loss in the community.

He died peacefully, in his 89th year, surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of Mayo University Hospital.

Predeceased by his wife Nellie, he is dearly missed by his sons and daughters Anne, Marie, Fiona, J.P, John and Paul, sisters Anne Flanagan (London) and Maureen O'Lunney (New York), brother John Joe (Gort, Ross), sister-in-law Patsy, daughters-in-law Mairead, Sharon and Linda, grandchildren Sorcha, Leah, Emma, Emily, Jennifer, Adam, Sara, Martha, Hannah, Holly and Tom, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

James was also predeceased by his parents John and Delia, and son-in-law Billy Madigan,

Fond tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media where he is described as 'an absolute gentleman' as well as 'a great community man and neighbour'.

James will repose at The Coady Funeral Home, Castlebar on Thursday from 5 until 7 o'clock, with removal to his home.

Removal from his home on Friday morning to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, for Requiem Mass at 11 o'clock .

Interment takes place afterwards in Breaffy Cemetery.
