First event in plans to relaunch River Moy Trust

PLANS are underway to relaunch the River Moy Trust.

The River Moy Trust evolved out of a catchment group of concerned angling clubs along the Moy with the aim of protecting and enhancing its natural heritage.

Plans are in place to relaunch the Trust, and the Emigrant Park in Kiltimagh will host the first engagement event on Wednesday, May 21.

Brief informal presentations will be given by local LAWPRO (Local Authority Waters Programme) officer Éanna Hyland, Mayo County Council biodiversity officer Shelia Murphy, and River Moy Trust’s Gary Smyth will talk more about the Trust and how to get involved, as well as running through the measures Emigrant Park Kiltimagh have carried out to improve and enhance the local park.

The aim of the event is to allow people with a passion for nature and the environment in their area to meet and learn and connect, explore revitalisation of the Trust so it can serve as an umbrella organisation to access funding, educate and work towards the common goal of protecting and restoring the River Moy Catchment.

The event takes place from 6.30 to 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, in the Willow Class at Emigrant Park in Kiltimagh (F12 F5X4). The event is free but please register on Eventbrite.
