Four new AEDS now live on Mayo's Great Western Greenway

TWO new AEDs have gone live on the Great Western Greenway between Westport and Newport

This brings the number of life-saving devices up to four in a initiative honouring the memory of local man John Moore (Zulu), who passed suddenly in January 2023.

John's wife Nora, daughter Patricia and extended family have raised funds and purchased a number of public access AEDs to be placed along the Great Western Greenway Cycling in his memory.

The first two went live in recent weeks at Midwest Furniture (F28 VW64) and at Michael McLoughlin's (F28 FW77). And now two more AEDs are live and available for use in an emergency at the entrance of John Malee's (F28 W9T3) and a little further down to Newport, just off the greenway in Acres Grove (F28 X577).

Westport Community First Responders are working with the family on the initiative.

They are looking for a few more locations to place public access defibrillators along the greenway from Westport to Newport. If anyone is interested in placing an AED box on their property, get in touch via the first responders Facebook page and they will follow up with you.

Thanks has been extended to everyone involved, including the landowners, for their support in making this happen.
