Draft byelaws being published to allow casual trading at Mayo lake
Revised casual trading byelaws, to allow for trading at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar, are being published this week.
Notice has been published by Mayo County Council in today's local press and the relevant documentation will be available to the public to view from Thursday.
Publication of the proposed byelaws has been welcomed by Councillor Ger Deere who has highlighted the need for a coffee dock at the popular lake amenity to meet public demand.
It is an added attraction to have there, particularly in the summer, he said, with the recent spell of good weather a point in case, where people could enjoy a coffee with family or friends.
Last October Councillor Deere tabled a motion asking that the casual trading byelaws be amended.
Following a review of the existing casual trading byelaws, new draft byelaws for Castlebar Municipal District (MD) have now been created.
They will be available for inspection from May 22 to June 23 at the council's MD offices at Aras an Chondae in Castlebar or online on the council website.
Members of the public are invited to make submissions, not later than 5 p.m. on July 7.
