GAA President to visit Mayo for county board meeting on Monday evening
Jarlath Burns and the Director General of the GAA, Tom Ryan are to attend a meeting of the Mayo County Board on Monday, May 26.
In an email sent to secrateries of every GAA club in the county inviting one of either its chairperson, secretary or treasurer along with their county board delegate to the meeting which is to be held in Knockranny House Hotel in Westport.
Mayo GAA has found itself amidst both on-field and off-field storms, the senior men’s championship season looks to be over after a shock loss to Cavan at home last weekend.
While its financial affairs have attracted scrutiny due to debt accumulated from the MacHale Park redevelopment, also an investigation in Winter of last year by Revenue also put the county board in the national spotlight.
Jarlath Burns notably lauded the Mayo GAA administrators in a speech on the steps of the Hogan Stand when Mayo lost to Kerry in the Allianz League Final.
Both Burns and Tom Ryan are expected to address the delegates at Monday night’s meeting.
