Men’s Sheds across Mayo receive funding boost

A funding package to support up to 21 Men’s Sheds across Mayo has been announced, said Minister of State, Alan Dillon TD.

Minister Dillon said, “The funding contribution for this year, together with funding provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development last year, will enable the Irish Men’s Sheds Association (IMSA) to distribute up to €1M in supports to their members with grants of up to €3,000 available.

The funding is designed to assist Men’s Sheds with their running and operational costs such as their heating, utility and insurance bills.

‘The emergence of Men’s Sheds has been a very positive development for communities across Ireland and this Government is fully committed to the continued support of Men's Sheds in the valuable work they do.”

Minister Dillon added. “I am delighted that 21 Men’s Sheds across the length and breadth of Mayo will receive funding of up to €3,000 each to assist them in their weekly running costs or to carry out small improvements in their premises.

“Men’s Shed groups across Mayo provide a valuable service in rural and urban areas.

They help tackle isolation and provide a welcoming and comfortable space for men to come together and socialise.

They have become a cornerstone of community development and social inclusion across Ireland.”
