Promoting direct flights from Italy to east Mayo airport
Tourism Ireland partnered with Ireland West Airport Knock last week to promote direct flights and ease of access from Milan-Bergamo to the Ireland West Airport Knock, situated in east Mayo, to key Italian travel professionals and journalists.
Fourteen Irish tourism companies – including Achill Tourism, Knock House Hotel and Knock Shrine, and Mayo County Council – connected with around 60 leading Italian tour operators, travel agents and journalists at a B2B workshop and networking event. Guests also enjoyed some delicious Irish produce, prepared by Good Food Ireland.
Tourism Ireland aims to sustainably support the economies of communities right across the island, growing revenue to our regions outside of the peak summer season by an average of +6.5% per year to 2030.
A key part of that strategy involves working with regional airports and airlines to promote flights which deliver visitors right to our regions.
Marcella Ercolini, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Italy, said: “We were delighted to partner with Ireland West Airport Knock, Good Food Ireland and our tourism industry partners to highlight ease of access from Milan-Bergamo to IWAK with Ryanair, as well as some of the many things to see and do along the beautiful Wild Atlantic Way.
“Our aim is to inspire potential holidaymakers to choose Ireland and sustainably support local economies and communities by driving bookings on flights to regional airports like Ireland West Airport Knock.”
A similar event will take place in Cologne, Germany, next month to highlight Ryanair flights from Cologne to Knock.
