Ballinrobe Golf Club launches 130th anniversary celebrations

BALLINROBE Golf Club proudly marked the launch of its 130th anniversary celebrations with a special event at Cloonacastle, the club’s historic grounds.

The occasion brought together members, local dignitaries, community supporters and golf enthusiasts to commemorate over a century of golfing tradition and community spirit.

The highlight was the ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Michael Ring, former Minister for Rural and Community Development, who was also honoured with an honorary life membership in recognition of his long-standing support for the club and local community.

The launch featured a welcome address by club president Liam Thornton, a showcase of the club’s rich history, and announcements of upcoming anniversary activities planned on June 2 and throughout the year. Guests enjoyed refreshments and a presentation highlighting key milestones since the club’s founding in 1895.

“We are honoured to celebrate 130 years of Ballinrobe Golf Club’s heritage and the incredible community that has supported us,” said Liam Thornton. “On the 2nd of June, we will be celebrating in style with a series of exciting events, namely a golf tournament and social gathering. We look forward to welcoming members and visitors to join us throughout this occasion and special year.”
